Marketing, Principles & Perspectives: Principles & Perspectives (Mcgraw-Hill/Irwin Series in Marketing) ReviewI picked up this book as a preparation for the CLEP marketing exam. While it is easy to read, the layout is cluttered and distracting. The authors give a rah-rah treatment to e-commerce, presenting multiple .com case studies throughout the book (each chapter begins with an internet site and description).
It is clear that the authors were infatuated with the so-called "new economy," and the book suffers a lot as a result. Using it as a primer is tiring, as you have to separate the essentials of marketing from the e-commerce cheerleading.

Dynamic HTML: The HTML Developer's Guide ReviewAfter seeing all the five star reviews I thought this must be the book I needed - how wrong I was. I'm a seasoned web developer needing a really chunky tutorial on DHTML, and this book ain't it. Jeff kicks off with a general intro to CSS and the DOM - ok but not brilliant, better info exist on the web. Then things go downhill. All his DHTML applications are mundane at best (image rollovers, weedy pull downs) or downright obscure at worst (MS channels). Code is NOT explained line by line and you are not left with the feeling you can do it yourself. As long as you want to add Jeff's example into your pages then you're golden, if you want to learn the underlying principles and then develop your own stuff...forget it! And despite the blurb it ain't cross platform, its two scripts and some detect. Shame on you.Dynamic HTML: The HTML Developer's Guide Overview

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Working Less, Earning More ReviewI've skimmed several books like this; This guide is the only one that I've read all the way through and taken copious notes to plan my next steps. I plan on revisiting this book after my new consulting biz takes off, to make sure I've covered all the bases.
To address one comment's concern: I do think it would work for non-office jobs, not just corporate execs. Read for yourself. This Idiot's Guide is definitely not for idiot's. Excellent advice!The Complete Idiot's Guide to Working Less, Earning More Overview
